DOMINIC GRANT
‘WHENAS in silks my Julia goes,
Then, then methinks, how sweetly flows
the liquefaction of her clothes!’
Robert Herrick (1591–1674)
These words by Herrick perfectly express how Dominic Grant’s bronze sculptures convey sentiments that span the centuries. The elegant and graceful poses so beautifully crafted in the series of ‘the girls’, have a strong emotive quality that evoke and celebrate an innocence and freshness associated with youth.
His understanding of form and the complexities of movement is evident. Many of the sculptures have seated poses that allow for easy and sympathetic placement in the home or provide a focal point in the garden. In recent years Grant’s sculptures have become highly collectable and have been exhibited in London, Amsterdam, Marbella, Monte Carlo and Portofino.
